October 2006

Congratulations to our former employee, Phil Craven, on his recent knighthood. Phil was well know to customers and staff alike for his cheery Bolton greeting of "How Do" given to all and sundry. He will now be known to us as Sir How Do! We hope his fellow members of the IOC understand at least one word in ten!

On 11 June 2005, Her Majesty (HM) Queen Elizabeth II announced that Phil Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has been appointed a Knight Bachelor. Sir Philip Craven was made a Knight Bachelor on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, adding to the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) he received in 1991. Mr. Craven is being awarded the Knighthood “for services to Paralympic Sport”.

Philip Craven is a former wheelchair consultant for Wicker Mobility Shop and left the company to concentrate on his activities within sports administration.
